[PRODIG] Appending meta data

[Bob Smith]

I want to append a particular phrase to the caption in a batch of 
images without disturbing an existing caption.  Some of the images may 
already have different captions.  Some have none.  I just want a phrase 
added to whatever may already be in the caption field.  Is there a way 
to do this as a batch operation either in iView or Photoshop CS?
