I'd like to acknowledge Rick Lee's long post on the S3's capabilities. This
is the most useful report I've seen yet on this camera, combining new info
with confirmation of things I'd sort of gathered already. I too have been
using the S2 for more than two years, and while I haven't regretted my
choice, this report confirms that the S3 does not represent sufficient
improvement - though better highlight control would certainly be valuable,
lost a number of shots through burnout. No, it's onward & upward via Nikon
or, increasingly likely, full-frame Canon... Thanks Rick.
