I have purchased the 20d and 1ds mk2 and both are superb cameras. The 20d would have been fine for me on it's own but I really needed the extra resolution that the 1ds offered. The build quality of the 1ds is better than the 2od but again it depends on what work you do and where you do it..horses for courses.
