People volunteer to be in the Air Force, it was volunteer even during Vietnam. I joined the Air Force at 18 with little understanding of Vietnam, and rethought it after my service was over at age 22. 911 is what makes this *much* different, from Vietnam and also from our ideas of "war" in general. Mature thinkers eventually realize that utopian ideas are just that, utopian. Vietnam was Lyndon Johnson and cronies being greedy idiots.
