Last I checked, Microsoft required you to sign an NDA (Non-Disclosure
Agreement) to get the specs to their SCC API (Source Code Control
Application Programming Interface). I got a copy of the NDA as part of
my research for Essential SourceSafe, but wouldn't agree to it.

A Google for "subversion scc provider visual studio" seems to provide
some good leads on people who have developed the middleware. I have no
experience with using any, however.

OTOH, subversion rocks! I've been using it on a number of projects
here locally and remotely, and it is pretty useful.
