I am interested and will contribute if I can. I have to admit, I am a beginner
with this stuff as I have only programmed with fox
since around 1988.

I think Python is worth 'thinking' thru some things as long as it will create a
database app like fox. If not, of course, it will
not work for me as I don't do anything except database applications. It would
be great not to worry about whether M$ will
discontinue support for my language - or not being tied to an operating system
that is purposely insecure and full of bugs to force
periodic updating. With open source you have the potential of being in control
of your way of making a living.

As much as I love Fox, it has a major flaw - being owned by a company run by
lawyers and sales people with the programmers (as
great as they are) being ignored and told to go out in the parking lot and play
ball. It will be interesting to see if M$ can throw
away their great company like IBM did back in the 80's.

And when you consider the fact that two guys can create powerful
visual tools like the ones in Dabo (ask some of the folks who were at
my session at FoxForward if they'd agree to that assessment) in their
spare time, doesn't that say an awful lot about the power of the
language? While we're certainly not at the level of polish that the
VFP tools are at, we have a completely functional class designer
(with either sizers or absolute positioning), code editors with
syntax coloring, code folding and Intellisense, database connection
designers that work with 4 separate backend SQL databases, a powerful
multi-banded report designer with PDF output, a built-in database
engine for local file-based data storage, etc...

Imagine if we could get just one or two more people interested
enough to contribute...
