I don't really know much on Linux which like most people is a good reason to
go to win2k3. I was under the impression that local machine would need to
access root and mail. How do you stop the outside world from accessing
either of those.

in the email system operates with extremely limited privileges,  
right? And that you can easily write a rule to reject email addressed  
to any user, including mail?

        I do agree that you would be better off with a Win2k3 server,  
though. Security in Linux takes a little bit of understanding, but  
security in Windows is redundant!
