I wish that customers would always have fully patched operating systems.
Reality, though, is that customers run old versions of Windows 7 Home with
Windows 98 machines in one network and complain about connectivity issues.

Two issues where prevalent... Speed is one of them. When it takes almost 30
seconds to actually connect to a computer on the new system, but
split-seconds on the old computer, it does become a problem. The second
issue we had was NETBIOS name resolution. When IPv6 was involved, computers
wouldn't see each other and wouldn't be able to reference each other by
name.

But then, I'm fortunate enough to only have to deal with such issues when
our support team can't find a solution.
