Bill,
do you mean the #define compiler or the pre-compile phase of the [Clipper]
compiler?
the # beastie was basically an elegant if somewhat obscure language that
allowed you to define your own commands.
the precompiler converted all commands (built-in and user) to function
calls** (which I think in turn mapped to C language library calls).
* e.g. use customers in 0 && =>> dbUse("customers", 0)
skip 3 && =>> dbSkip(dbAlias(), 3)
