Let's see how the new guy does. His credentials are good, and I'm optimistic -- especially because he does not come from the NeoCon crowd. I am also optimistic about the comprehensive immigration reform chances now. The Democrats were humiliated by the 1994 defeat, and learned a lot from the Republican congressional arrogance. I am optimistic about how they will govern this time around. I think we all want balanced budgets and common sense in our government. This new congress is not the same as the one that got the boot in 1994. Even the stock market is reacting favorably to the changeover and to Rummy's departure. The rout that happened yesterday was a lot bigger than I had any reason to expect, and met with all of my hopes. I just hope they don't screw it up with a bunch of stupid investigations. We need only what it takes to get on the straight and narrow, and certainly don't want to hamstring the Bush administration the way that the Clinton administration was hamstrung. No repeats of 1998, please.
