I've just been told the 6.5.3.1 Silent Column Specification Changes has a
bit in it those that use MySQL should be aware of:

If any column in a table has a variable length, the entire row is
variable-length as a result. Therefore, if a table contains any
variable-length columns (VARCHAR, TEXT, or BLOB), all CHAR columns longer
than three characters are changed to VARCHAR columns.

I know, I should confirm this before posting, but I'm not a MySQL user, and
have a deadline to meet, but thought I'd pass it along.
