Make sure that the Processor is a "core 2 duo" not just a core duo if
you're going down the Intel route.

That way you should if you get a core 2 and core quad compatible
motherboard be able to upgrade you processor from dual to quad core if
required. They are also more powerfull than the standard duo's and more
efficient power wise.

Hard drives, yes SATA 2 mirrored and a hot backup if possible (these are
real cheap now). Large TFT screens are coming down in price really quick
so go large here. If you aren't planning on going Vista the you can
skimp a bi on th egraphics card getting an OEM one as the latest ones
8800 and the upcomming ATI ones will be expensive. A decent DVD rewriter
is quite cheap now, save a floppy drive from an old machine in case you
need one (you will if you go SATA and XP for the F6 boot).

Case, well it's up to you. Keyboard mouse... Well how much do you use
them, value them accordingly!

Any DEV workstation that I would buy, must have a minimum of 2 Gig of
RAM. Also, the dual core Pentium processor's are nice.

Thanks,

PS: Just about anything sold for 800-1200 dollars now would be more than

enough for a good Dev workstation.
