David, You sharp eyed monster you! The start/end time are updated in real time. So the start/end pair are only relevant when the backup is finished. So, on the screen the finish time is the finish time of the LAST backup and the start time is the start time of the CURRENT backup which is in progress. Simple - well that's my excuse anyhow!
As for the colours nobody looks at the screen as it is on a remote server and the "grunts" on the admin staff wanted something they would recognize without automatically closing the application and I think I managed to make it stand out!
