That's not entirely false, but they both had things in common. Al Gore was
the son of a prominent senator, and had a lot of trouble getting any
assignment in Vietnam. Harry is of course 3rd in line... and had to fight to
get into combat in any capacity.

Al Gore wound up going as a journalist. You have seen the numbers of
journalists that have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Surely you can
agree that going there in ANY capacity beats sitting on your hands.

In Britain there is a long history of having a stellar military, and of
respecting those who serve. That is something the US has in common with
Britain. It isn't all good because we are involved in too many places in the
world -- also like Britain -- but there you have it.
