Hi I sold 4 Panasonic Toughbooks to a local John Deere Dealership some years ago. All are still working after being dropped from tractors, dragged through the mud and used in damp or dusty environments. When they got too slow for the new John Deere Software they looked at the new ones and decided to go for Toshiba's which they fitted into aluminium flight cases. The oldest of those is two years and again has given no problems, although as far as I know they haven't dropped them whilst not in the flight cases. We glued holders for shipping straps to the bottom of the laptop cases so that they couldn't be taken out of the cases except back at the workshop. At the time the difference in cost gave a better specification at less than a third of the price and their thoughts were that if an accident happened then they would just buy a new one if their insurance didn't cover it. It was not considered a problem if one did go faulty as they were relatively close to the workshop and could travel to get another one.

We've been using Dell Latitudes and I'm inclined to continue to use them. But I'd like to hear any recommendations. I hear Thinkpads would be a good alternative. HPs and Acer seem fragile to me. Has anyone being using Dell Vostros? _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
