After being here 2 1/2 years I just got done renegotiating my salary. I must say I am rather pleased how things turned out...
But one thing the boss said he placed a great value on was my desire and ability to network network network, first with the Software Association of Oregon (www.sao,org) and now I'm one of the founders of the IT Professionals Forum (www.itproforum.org). To me neither is a big deal (I'm not w/ the SAO anymore), but my boss thinks so. In fact $4k of my increase is just for being out there learning and socializing....
