I had someone behave similarly towards me last week. After going out for an intro meeting a week ago Friday with the prospective client saying they had an "emergency" and needed work done "immediately", I called to get details so I could send a contract out for review on Tuesday. The prospective client said I was jumping to conclusions and that I had "hired myself", and told me that they were extremely irritated with my presumptuous behavior. I've never had anybody react to me that way. I actually had a contract in my briefcase when I arrived at our first meeting, and only delayed when they said they wanted to think it over and get back to me on Monday. I didn't call on Monday, but waited until Tuesday. It never occurred to me that they'd think my behavior was pushy or presumptuous.
