The best one I had was a few years back when I was the manager at a software
house.
I'd set the department up from nothing, recruited the staff etc. Took the
turnover from £300k per year to about £1m per year in less than a year. One
interviewee had a history of getting sacked but I thought I'd give him a chance
so gave him a job.

Unfortunately my dad died suddenly shortly afterwards so I had a couple of days
off for the funeral and when I got back this guy had staged what I can only
describe as a mutiny. He'd taken my job, my car and if I hadn't been watching
he'd probably took the wife as well (can live in hope!!)

I was told by the directors to clear my desk and escorted from the premises.

I now work for myself and am a lot happier.
