Summary Description:  

 

The Database Manager is the primary point of data support for all Housing 
Works’ Employees and is responsible for the day to day support of all Housing 
Works data collection and reporting systems. The Database Manager should have a 
detailed knowledge of MS SQL Servers and be well versed in SQL queries as well 
as MS Access and Visual Fox Pro. The Data Systems Manager requires an in-depth 
knowledge of the AIDS Institute Reporting System and AIDS Institute Data 
Application. The Data Systems Manager requires strong debugging/problem solving 
skills and the ability to communicate with clients20and staff to correct data 
issues in the field or with internal data systems. Database Manager is 
responsible for providing technical expertise in database design and performs 
knowledge transfer to other IT technical staff. Develop and coordinate with 
network operations personnel data recovery and backup procedures for all 
SQL-based enterprise systems. Work with other IT team members on the future 
plans/direction for Archdiocesan data warehouse/data marts. 

 

Job Functions:

 


Excellent Trouble Shooting skills

Support Backup and recovery Strategies

Develop Queries, Views and Data Exports routines as needed.

Support multiple Access and FoxPro Databases

Support AIDS Institute Reporting System in the field

Support AIDS Institute Data Application

Performance tuning database objects, including databases, tables, views, stored 
procedures, object privileges/authorizations and referential integrity 
constraints 

Create, modify, monitor and implement database schema and tables

Ensuring quality customer service; and providing support to a varied user 
community

Installing, upgrading and configuring SQL Server 2000, including necessary 
patches

Document SQL Server architecture, Document all support procedures for the SQL 
Server 2000 environment throughout the enterprise, including patch loads, data 
backups, restores, performance tuning and configurations


 

Qualifications/Requirements:


1-2 years of related experience in database administration with experience 
specific to Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005

1-2 years of Windows Administration e
xperience 

 Must be able to perform SQL analysis and database performance turning

 Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline or 
equivalent, related work experience.
