Well that sounds very ironic due to the fact that max usb 2.0 is limited to 480 mb/s like you mentioned. That means that your max throughput is cut in half for technology that is only adopted right now by those that need high throughput. Such as gamers or for backup purposes. I would suggest that if you want gigabit to find space in a pci slot which will allow you to get the full throughput speed. Just make sure that all the hardware devices that the data has to go through, I.E. Router, bridge, switches, hardware firewall has gigabit ports otherwise you will be limited by the slowest device.

Sent: Oct 2, 2008 5:48 PM Is anyone using USB gigabit Ethernet adapters? If so, how are they performing. I suppose there is the 2.0 USB limit that is about half of Gigabit, but are they worth installing, particularly on laptops? _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
