Interesting....

For .Net stuff - "No" only MS can fix their crap. In fact, .Net changes
often "break" (or ... ah-hem.... "deprecate") previous code.

Hmm... Nonsense question. Or, if you want to be fair, is the code usable on
IIS if I created a "Non-windows" app on round 1 (sorry dude, windows
programming is rapidly losing ground).

>3) Can you host the Web sites anywhere or just your private server?

From what I've seen, for Open source (and Java in general) you can host
them anywhere. And at a much cheaper price than .Net solutions for sure. Of
course, this particular product has licensing fees just like MS requires
so..... And clearly you can't really host the .Net sites anywhere.

Of course the answer is yes. Not sure why you think MS has anything better.

>5) Have Sun updates cause the system to go stupid in the past?

For MS .Net the answer is a resounding "YES!" MS Updates almost always
cause things to go wrong somewhere. From what I've seen on the "Linux"
side, no, most "OS" updates do not cause "application" stuff to go stupid.

>6) How easy is it to move this system to a new server?

For .Net, it's a royal pain (at least according to the .Net-heads I've
talked to at a client site - and I've seen problems at other client sites
as well). But maybe it could be simplified by using Norton Ghost or
something like that (hmmm - I think that violates the MS license agreement).

Interesting that you'd point out all the weaknesses of .Net so readily. Are
you starting to see the light?
