No, the order of succession is for President, there is no order of succession 
for vice President.  When Nixon resigned, Ford took over and then nominated 
Nelson Rockefeller as vice president.

Biden would choose a new VP.

But here are the strange twists.

If the Democrats put up a non-natural-born citizen, do they get a "Do-over" or 
do they just void all their votes and John McCain becomes president, winning 
every state in the union by default?  I don't think the Constitution spells it 
out.

Who's responsibility is it to make sure the Democrats put up a legal candidate?
