If they went to your customers' sites and modified their copy of a
9-
year-old OS, then I would say you are correct. But having them release
newer products doesn't make the older ones stop working.

I agree, and ask for nothing that would hamper any of MS's efforts with
Windows. In fact, I'm happy to see Windows 7 replacing Vista.

My hope is that that MS leaves it at Windows 7 for a long time, so we have
7.01, 7.02 etc., or functional component add-ons, or a mix, or however they
want to do it - so long as they nail down Windows continuity and
compatibility issues. The company has had more then enough time to sort out
how to manage OS development and now they have take it seriously. They need
to do this not for our sake, but their own.

Till now, MS has been repackaging Windows as a series of new products, so
they could sell it again and again, but I think people are tired of that and
ready for the next step, the subscription, which I understand MS has said
they are switching to anyway. I'm okay with that too. We're all effectly
selling subscriptions anyway. The critical issue with all this is
continuity.

BTW, I hope you guys are doing well with Dabo. A bold move that deserves a
lot of credit.

Maybe someday ... :)
