He then started slapping her, but when I told her to leave him she said he'd had a lot of stress at work and that as soon as that was over he'd change. She's now been hospitalized a couple of times, yet she tells me that now that her husband's boss has resigned he'll be less stressed and "perhaps without so much stress, better judgement will pervail".
