The last notebooke we purchased was the Dell Vostro 3300. I5-520M, dedicated graphics card, fingerprint reader, webcam, up to 6GB RAM (from Dell, the machine itself supports 8GB), backlit keyboard (big plus here for me), Win 7 Professional as an option, 500GB hard disk 7200 RPM.
Really good machine. Things I don“t like: keyboard is good but a little flimsy (although has backlight), no HDMI, sound is awful (really awful). Oh, and it gets really warm when the processor higher clock kicks in. http://www.dell.com/content/topics/topic.aspx/us/segments/bsd/vostro-3300?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd The 14, 15 inch models are basically the same thing, but with HDMI. The 17 inch has a powerful dedicated graphics card and stronger processors. The 2010 Vostros are not on the same level of quality as the Dell Latitude, but price is good.
