Thanks Tracy & Bryant,

I'll try replacing the battery and see what happens.  I was wondering if 
the "please re-setting" message was more of a red herring than anything 
just due to me pressing the reset button during boot up.  Most of my 
research on-line seems to suggest that replacing the battery didn't work 
though :(

I'll see if I can get around to her house today and replace it and let 
you all know.
