I work on Ubuntu with a desktop dedicated to my XP VFP machine.  I 
frequently have to use task manager to force quit explorer in the XP 
desktop, but I seriously can't remember ever having to reboot my Ubuntu 
- except for an update.  I also use Ubuntu on my laptop.
