I support all my clients with LogMeIn. I recently vacationed in Europe and one of them phoned me telling me he had a problem in his LAN. So, from the hotel lobby and half an hour of my time, I accessed his server with LogMeIn and solved the problem. I use the free version. We talked by Skype during the whole process.
As for file transfer, I set up FileZilla (server version) in my office computer and transfer files via ftp to and from my PC. All my clients use FireFox for a browser with the FPT add-in. I use that to contact my office PC through the FileZilla Server. Of course you need a fixed IP address but I get that from NO-IP.org. At 5 bucks per year it does not seem very expensive. While I was away my PC was always on, so I could even access it every night from the hotels to check my mails and my bank balance. It all works like a charm (and because FileZilla is OpenSource, and LogMeIn is free and NO-IP costs 5 dollars, and Skype is also free, with the money I saved plus the extra fees I charged my client for making me work from Europe during my vacation, I think I can bank my vacation next year, he,he,he) Rafael Copquin El 19/10/2010 18:00, Ken Kixmoeller (ProFox) escribió: > On Tue, Oct 19, 2010 at 3:58 PM, Ted Roche<[email protected]> wrote: >> So, I'm looking for suggestions for what a "user" would use to get >> remote access to his/her desktop. > I'll put in another vote for LogMeIn.
