My nomenclature was not meant to be exact, but I added "(non-trivial)" since 
the entire array and the empty array are trivial to me.
Nor did I mention in what respect "minimal" and "maximal" was. I think with 
respect to the rank, or dimension if you prefer.
All items have maximal rank (_1) and all atoms have minimal rank (0).
