Actually I (half) agree with you. If you search for the word CamelCase on:
 http://www.jsoftware.com/jwiki/Vocabulary/FormalPageNames
you'll see my proposal, which is for a clutch of CamelCase names at wiki root
(though this is not explicitly stated).
I got no support for that idea so I went ahead with the "consensus".

Somebody felt that CamelCase names were made extra-cumbersome by the
mixed-case requirement.
They would certainly have made generating NuVoc a lot easier for me.
...but hey, I've done it now.
