This still does not match the simplicity and elegance of the J602 treatment 
using the monospaced font  Courier New.

You may have a regular boxed array on your machine without broken lines and 
irregular rows, but on my machine using Chrome I do not get that.

I do not mind having blanks in the array, but it should look like a regular 
boxed array.

Each element of a. enables us to treat any byte as an atom.  Diplaying 
arrays of those atoms as boxed arrays can be very useful.
