Is it really the case that some devices don't have a /sdcard mountpoint, though, even the ones that don't have SD hardware? (I don't know, I find it hard to believe. Even given the lack of an SD card, you'd think they'd provide that mount point to maintain compatibility with the huge number of apps that use the SD card, not to mention to maintain the possibility of copying files to and from the device.) As a bonus of using that, you can an easy way of copying files from the PC to the device, and also an easy, fully compatible way of sharing files between apps (since files on the SD aren't protected).
