Yep.
There's no feedback at the prompt concerning the auth method
to use and as "admin" is obviously a local alias I thought
it authenticates with the local method.
In that case indeed it is used the default authentication
method you choose (in the past it was always used the
local authentication to authorize bibtasks, but the very
developer and contributor of the LDAP plugin also proposed
we should use whatever authentication method is set as
default).
Ah. Ic. So if I switch to LDAP by default all local tasks
use LDAP all the time. In this case it would probably be
wise to display the same text as on the webpage to the user.
Anyway: "priority very low" one can now find it in the list
archives ;)
IMHO, it has come the time when we can simply remove any
authentication level when starting bibtasks from the
command line. Any way if you can access the server via SSH
and starts a Python prompt you can easily bypass these
security checks, so we might simply remove this
authentication step which is just a burden for the admin.
I tend to agree though there must have been a reason for
auth in the first place. But if that reason is gone, indeed
one might drop it.
Besides being a burden for an admin there's also another
point: at the moment I'm automatising some stuff and it
always halts at the password prompts ;)
(while still keeping the -u/--user argument for bibtasks
so that it is possible to log who requested a certain
task).
This is sensible of course. Unfortunately, one can't hook it
up simply with the Unix login as all tasks run via sudo.
Maybe that would be a way otherwise.
