Follow-up Comment #7, task #2779 (project admin):

SVN solves most of the problems that CVS causes regarding webpages updates.
Rsync itself is quite non-user friendly (if it is, tell me why I never
remember its options and frequently delete by mistake files - I'm willing to
admit being dumb, but I'm surely not alone in this matter).

Using rsync would mean adding an extra step for people that would like a
version controlled website.
I think this would just mean making things one bit harder to deal with for
users and for us and I am quite confident in SVN right now to think that
unlike CVS it should not poses problems to users (it can easily deal with
directories and files moves, it handles symlinks).
