Hi,

If a coupled simulation between a DEM system and a Chrono-managed multibody 
system is what you wanted, then definitely yes. For DEM, it is supported 
through a separate Chrono toolkit, DEM-Engine 
<https://github.com/projectchrono/DEM-Engine>. You can check out the README 
document to see if it fits your needs. If it does then you can proceed to 
install it as a library so it works together with Chrono core.

Of course, there are other terrain representation types other than discrete 
elements, too. But I am not familiar with those.
