Australian found dead in Indonesia
By Indonesia correspondent Geoff Thompson

The body of an Australian man has been found in a hotel in the Indonesian
city of Surabaya.

Donald Hancock, aged in his 50s, was a director of studies at the Surabaya
branch of the AusAID-backed Indonesia Australia Language Foundation.

His body was discovered on Monday when a cleaner could not open the door of
his hotel room.

He was found with a plastic bag secured over his head and a quantity of
pills nearby.

The Indonesia Australia Language Foundation is where Peter Smith worked
before he was recently arrested in Jakarta and accused of luring underage
street children into his house to perform sexual acts.

It has since been revealed that before changing his name and travelling to
Indonesia, Smith had a prior conviction for child molestation in Australia.
