Sounds to me like an APM / ACPI fault, I had my first install of win2k never shutdown and hang, played with the bios and now it shuts down like a dream :o) look in the bios at the power saving features, and soft start etc. also look in the devices section of system at the computer then ACPI section :o) > Any hints would be welcome.
