Jerry, Those settings in the rule matrix are only to verify that the port is connected to something electrical. There doesn't have to be another matching port. Give it a try...just make a port called test and connect it to an arbitrary point. Then run the ERC and you won't have any errors, even though there isn't another port named test. It's really strange!
