I finally got it...I was barking up the wrong tree. (Thanks anyway, Alex) Wrong way: Trying to update the (variable) value in the parameters list.
Right way: Using the callback option and modifying the query string before it's sent to the server. This page clued me in that I needed to use the callback option: http://wiki.github.com/madrobby/scriptaculous/ajax-autocompleter However, it didn't have an example of how to use it. This page shows how to do it: http://horde.greendragonempire.com/news/276-scriptaculous-ajax-autocompleter-callback-example.html Paul On Sep 14, 12:11 pm, "Alex McAuley" <webmas...@thecarmarketplace.com> wrote: > Then you need to do something like > > '&id='+$('theelement').getValue(); > > Alex Mcauleyhttp://www.thevacancymarket.com > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Paul G" <pggiff...@gmail.com> > To: "Prototype & script.aculo.us" <prototype-scriptaculous@googlegroups.com> > Sent: Monday, September 14, 2009 4:40 PM > Subject: [Proto-Scripty] Re: How do I pass other parameters to > Autocompleter? > > Thanks, but that didn't work. > > My autocompleter creation looks like this (in the window.onload > function): > > new Ajax.Autocompleter('myField', 'menu', 'myServlet'', > { > paramName: 'myParam', > parameters: 'type='+1234+'&id='+myId > }); > > The value of myId when the autocompleter is created is what's passed > to the servlet, even if I later change that value.
