I'd second the Project Mix I/O being a wise choice, assuming that you
need an audio interface too of course. Considering the build quality,
the flexibility, what the I/O sounds like, it's a very competitively
priced point of entry.

On the GB front, seem to remember Apple selling a controller
specifically for it, but I've never actually been in proximity of one.
