pro tools 10.0.1 update and pro tools 8.01 HD question

Hi, I have a mac book pro running pro tools 10.0.1 and the new mac 
10.7.3 update and have found that when going to the different tabs in 
preferences pro tools crashes.  Has anyone else had this problem and 
does the 10.0.1 fix any accessibility issues?  I am in a class or lab 
who has pro tools HD 8.01 on mac os version 10.5 and have found that I 
am not able to navigate to all of the same items I am able to navigate 
to in pro tools 10 is there a fix other then upgrading which the school 
will do hopefully soon or is version 8.01 not the best to use with 
voiceover?  Also for an audio interface I was looking into the 003 
normal version as I would like one that has both a control surface and 
an audio interface that can record up to 24 bit 96KHZ and can run off of 
the mac book pro's power does this interface work well for a control 
surface and an audio interface?  Nick Gawronski
