Hi.

Regarding the control surface question, why not go with the Mackie
control universal? You get more tactile control along with transport
controls etc for far less money, it's expandable, and it's already
ready for pro tools out of the box as pt is one of the modes you can
select on the surface. Why blow all this extra cash on two pieces of
hardware just because Avid chose to dump the very useful 003 and
project mix? Just curious...

As far as Focusrite goes, their drivers are rock solid, the preamps
are pretty good, and support is pretty good about responding in a
timely fashion. That interface, aside fron having eight mic preamps,
has many expansion options for external gear/preamps...
