Hi, If I create a midi session or get someone elses session and save the file as a normal midi file when I try to play it back the tempo and everything else about the midi session is totally wrong. What am I missing as if I open up the sessions in pro tools they sound like they should but if I save them as midi they are all messed up and I have tried importing a midi file into pro tools to hear how the included pro tools midi maps sound but when I hit play even when I see the different tracks no sound plays? Hey Steve, once you have the drivers installed then just create an instrument
track, arm it, put expand on the insert track and your good to go. You can
change the instrument banks under the presets for expand just like you would
for any other plug in.

cool. thanks for this. regarding the keyboard, i don’t think it came with a
driver disk, as far as windows goes, it was just a plug and play thing. would
it not work the same on mac,or is it possible i may need to look for drivers on
line.

Steve,

The chapters on MIDI in the Pro Tools Reference Guide will go a long way to
explaining what needs to be done. I'll just say that, if you haven't already
done so, you'll need to install the USB driver for your keyboard.

Hi. can anyone give me some instructions as to how to get me up and running
with midi in p t.
Hiere is what i’ve done so far.
I have an 88 note usb midi controller keyboard. i have this plugged in to my u
s b hub. In my session i’ve inserted an stereo instrument track. I’ve then
incerted the x band 2 plug over this track. But where do i find the library of
categories to choos from, , also do i need to do anything else to get the
keyboard set up for midi in p t.I really need to program drum tracks, so i
guess somewhere i’ll need to select a midi channel and tell it to use channel
10. But not really sure how it all works in here.
