To remove automation data, set the track view to whatever type of automation 
you wish to edit, select the range and cut, copy, delete, whatever. You can tab 
to fade boundaries just like clips. Select the fade just as you would select a 
clip and press delete.. Remember to get into Waveform view if you want to do 
anything with waveforms or fades.
