Hi Mike,
There is an applet that does something similar with the types, see

http://ptolemy.eecs.berkeley.edu/ptolemyII/ptII5.0/ptII5.0.1/ptolemy/domains/sdf/demo/Type/Type.htm

However, running vergil on the corresponding Type.xml file does not
result in the text describing the types being updated because the
applet uses ptolemy.vergil.TypeAnimatorApplet to update the types.

I think that doing what you want to do would be a valuable UI feature
in Ptolemy. Perhaps Edward will have some ideas?

I have created a custom TypedIOPort that has a fixed-point "Precision"
associated with it for modeling fixed-point systems. I would like to
display the Precision value in Virgil. Any suggestions on the best way
to render the Precision (or any other parameter of the port) within
Virgil? Ideally, I would like to have Virgil automatically display this
when the actor is first rendered. I have been unable to find an example
to do this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    - Mike
