Dumb article, sadly typical of today's "journalism". As far as I can
tell, the story doesn't say who made the decision to disconnect. The
"one person who ruined it for everyone" was the one that made that
decision, not the dude or dudette that was allegedly downloading the
movie.

We _occasionally_, like maybe a half-dozen time in the 4 years I've
been involved with PTP, get a notification of some claim of illegal
downloading. We respond to those notifications by investigating and,
where appropriate, blocking access to a particular person. It does
not require cutting off the service in its entirety, and anyone who
says it does is smoking bad rope.

PTP does occasionally block bittorrent or bittorrent-like traffic on
our nodes, but since we can't tell whether the content is illegal or
not unless we have a specific complaint, we are blocking it because it
is interfering with others use of the network by saturating the
upstream bandwidth. We consider circumstances like that to be abusive
and we are acting to protect the network, not to enforce someone's
hypothetical copyright claim.
