audio CDs and variable speed on Ptr1

Some companies had told me that the Victor Readers could do variable speed 
on mp3s and audio CDs but the manufacturer has just replied to my queries 
and told me this is not the case.

Can the Ptr1 do variable speed on audio CDs and mp3 files?

I have seminars etc on CD that want to speed up when listening.
