Andrew - "recover damaged recording?" That option doesn't appear to be
there, all I have is "Search for edited information" "erase CDRW/card" and
"Finalise CD."

Andy,

The main reasons for this happening are:
1.
Dirt on the disk - the PTR1 is more sensative than usual, due to the way
it records onto the disk. This also applies to scratches on the disk.
2. Jitters or skipping of the motor - usually if you move the unit, or nock
it.

In all cases, you should be able to recover what you had recorded by going
into the media management menu, and then using the "recover damaged
recording" option. Note that after the recovery procedure, the disk is
unstable, so back it up to card asap.

Andrew.

Subject: PTR1 producing damaged disks

Hi all -

This is happening too often! I can be taking notes, or recording a course
session, and for no apparent reason, the PTR1 decides part way through, that
the disk is a "improper or damaged disk!" and all the previous recordings
get lost! This has also happened when recording a series of programmes off
the TV, I might record 4-5 episodes, only to find part way through the
following weeks recording, PTR1 gives me that message, and I've lost all the
previous weeks programmes! Doesn't seem to matter if I'm using CDRs or
CDRWs.

I've lost too much work now because of this PTR1, that for 600 I'm
beginning to think it's way over rated, and I've lost confidence in it's
reliability. Seems like the usual story, that things produced for the blind
are over priced, and second rate!!

Going to have to try recording everything to card, and then back it up to
disk - so much for choice!

Andy
