the PTR1 is a bit picky, when it comes to blank CDs. As with every CD
writer, it *does* matter which CDs are used. The problem is, that
nowadays, one cannot say from which company a CD is by just looking at
the label. If you buy ten CDs from Sony, they may be manufactured by
Ritek or another relatively obscure company. It's really interesting to
look at the ATIP of blank CDs. If you want to know more about atip, do a
Google search for it.

I think, that one of the best blank CD-R comes from Plextor. Here in
Germany, blank Plextor CD-Rs are available via Amazon, so this may be
the case in other countries as well. Plextor CD-Rs are always
manufactured by Taiyo Yuden. Plextor has tested Taiyo Yuden and says,
that they're good for the PTR1.
