It is really a misrepresentatio, though, and needs clearing up.
Perhaps a DAISY primer is in order. Of course in this country, the USA, most people don't have anything to do now with DAISY, unlike the UK, Canada and most other
countries of the world.

Hi,
Yes; this is a known shortcoming of the unit. However, at the moment it is a good way of distinguishing between the already confusing field of either DAISY or audio CD recording. However, I really see no reason why this could not be technically implemented in a future upgrade; perhaps making a case to Plextor would up the priority?
Having said this, however, I really don't see the PTR1 as a CD recorder, as you have been told here many times, and I would imagine that if this were to be implemented, then the functionality would remain much the same (i.e, lack of editing on audio disks).
Sorry for the long subject line in the last reply; it may be best to see if we can keep this reasonably short since I did not read what was in a lot of that subject because of its length.
Andrew.

At my radio station, our engineers routnely produce both audio and data CDs using the same brand and type of CDRs or CDRWs. I wish this could be the case with the PTR1. --Daveed--

for audio use.Hi,
No. Simply put, the audio use CDs have a different make up on the initial ID track, which will tell a machine that they aremanufacturer, asWhether the quality of these in relation to data CDs is any better I will leave it up to you - it probably depends on theanyone who presses the disks can easily set the requiredinformation toWithin Daisyhow they want.

Thanks. I'm still confused about audio versus data CDs; arethere any CDs that will allow for both audio and data use? --Daveed--

As for CD-RW, in my experience, it is difficult to find aCD-RW - mostly all you will find are data CD-RW. If usinga data CD-RW, theonly choice the PTR1 will give you is Daisy recording.playback device.recording, you can choose PCM 44.1 or MP3 compression, butin either case itis only a Daisy recording, playable only on a Daisywith all itsdigital audio CD-R or
To record directly in PCM 44.1 stereo, one must use aCD-RW (sometimes also called "music CD"). Then, the PTR1will allow such ahas been easiestrecording. However, there is no editting permitted.
If I wish to end up with a recording in PCM 44.1 stereo, itfor me to first record on a flash card as a Daisy titlecomputers toeditting capabilities. Then, once it is just as I like it,I back up to aImation with gooddigital audio CD-R or RW in PCM 44.1 stereo.

I have another question re CDs and the PTR1: If you usethen you can't erase at all, correct--that is, while youare recordingwhat, and whatmaterial, you can't record over or correct anyting. Also, when buying CDRWs, must I specify audio or data, oroccasions andbrands work the bestt? Thanks much. --Daveed--

I'd like to make the following observations about these three companies. 1. They have all been around for several years, and they're not fly-by-night companies. 2. I have purchased items from all of them on severalexpensive on certainthey are all three good and reliable companies.
3. They all have good prices, but one may be lessitems. J and R sells many items from CDS to music to---------------------------------------------------------------------flat shippingkitchen appliances, just to name a few. 4. Tape World has a flat shipping rate of $6.95, so theoretically, if they had enough items you wanted, you could spend hundreds of dollars at one time for a lowbottom pricesrate. I won't say these three companies have the absolutebelieve that notfor name brand CDS and related items, but I sincerelyand reliableonly are their prices reasonable, but that they are goodwhatsoever when doingcompanies. Anyone is welcome to e-mail me privately of your experiences with them, but I have had no problemsbusiness with any of these companies.
